Nenskra Hydropower Project

In collaboration with CEE Bankwatch and NGO Forum on ADB, an Early Warning System Alert has been published for the Nenskra Hydropower Plant in Georgia. Despite great opposition from the ethnic Svan communities whose traditional lands will be impacted, the EBRD, EIB, ADB, and AIIB have proposed to co-finance the project. This analysis focuses on the ADB and AIIB’s proposed investments subject to approval in the first half of 2018, and finds significant impacts on communities’ rights to a healthy environment, housing and property, labor and livelihood, food, health, and Indigenous rights.
